Lessons for all ages!
We have developed a teaching style that has proven to be successful over the last 40 years, without dunking. Classes range from our Parent/Baby Class (Little Otters) to our swim team (Dolphins) for children, and our beginning swim class for adults (Aquaphobics) to our Senior Swim Therapy - all in our comfortable 94 degree pools.
Little Otters (Parent/Baby Class):
For parents and infants starting at four months old (six months at In Shape locations). We follow a gentle approach to encourage their own natural enthusiasm. Babies are actually learning to swim. We have a step-by-step way to get babies going under water without dunking or forcing. Your infant benefits from the bonding and trust of this family oriented class.
Sea Otters
This beginner class introduces children to the fundamental skills that are the building blocks of swimming; this leads to comfort and confidence in floating. Children will work on going under water independently, blowing bubbles, floating face down, and floating on their backs.
Seahorses
In this class children can float on their front. They work to develop arm stroke and the ability to swim a short distance. They will continue working on floating on their back and elementary backstroke.
Seals
This class focuses on perfecting arm stroke and introducing/working on side breathing. Children will learn backstroke and be introduced to flutter kicks. Strength and endurance will build in this class.
Swordfish
Children can swim freestyle independently. They will continue to build strength with their freestyle and backstroke. Children will be introduced to breast stroke in this class. They will prepare for Dolphins Pre-Competitive Swim Team (available at select locations).
Dolphins Swim Team
This is a non-competitive swim team designed to build endurance and confidence in all strokes and lap swimming. This swim team is for skilled swimmers and is a great way to keep your swimmer swimming!
Aquaphobics
A second chance for those adults who have never learned to swim...a fun way to become an aquatic wonder. Classes are available for fearful swimmers all the way up to adults who need stroke work. It's never too late to learn how to swim!
